This is a picture of my dad’s truck. It is a 1951 Ford ˝ ton short bed pickup. I do most of the work to it, and I haven’t done much actual ‘visible’ work in the last few years. We are running the original flathead engine, rebuilt. The frame has been sandblasted and painted black. I completed a disk brake conversion up front, but haven’t done the Master Cylinder yet. This is an Ohio truck, so the fenders and running boards were badly rusted. When we were down in Pigeon Forge, TN for the F-100 show, we bought four new fiberglass fenders and a set of running boards, we also bought a rear roll pan, because the truck didn’t come to us with a bumper.

we have most of the parts to finish it, but I started to get distracted. I need to replace the front cab corners. We got a new bed and cross members for a good deal from the PF show, last year. Over the last summer, I took a lot of parts to get sandblasted, so a test fit of everything will happen soon. My dad is getting antsy to start working on it himself, which is a good thing. He never really had too much ‘car experience’ until I got old enough to become interested in cars. He has learned a lot lately. I hope he never stops.

In the above picture you can see the pile of fenders and such on the rear of the frame. The black ones are fiberglass, and need the mounting holes drilled. The white/gray ones are some original Ford pieces that need a bit of rust repair work. In the picture below, you can see the new red oak we got for the bed, along with the new skid strips. Since I came to school, my dad has started to seal the wood with some marine grade stuff, I don’t know what its called, but he still needs to sand it down and put a few more coats on.
